In the midst of World War II, the open city of Shanghai was one of the few places in the world where Jews trying to escape Nazi Germany could find refuge. Elisabeth and Theodore Weissberg, world-famous musicians; Hilde Braun, a promising actress; rabbi Leo Levin and his wife Esther; pickpocket Schlomo Kinfelstein, are some of the characters who seek refuge in this Asian city. The Shanghai of the late 1930s, under Japanese occupation, was a city of extremes: an international financial center with more than 300 banks and luxury hotels, but also a port city plagued by brothels and opium dens; a city in which the wretched neighborhoods such as Hongkou, which would later turn into a Jewish ghetto, contrasted sharply with the opulent international trade centers. Part historical account and part fictional thriller, Angel Wagenstein’s novel is a reconstruction of oneAt times terminology is presented prior to its definition (like "social engineering" on page 4 and definition on page 5; "choke point" on page 192 and definition on page 193). Still informative though. Mintzer's book are: "Mastering Online Marketing" (ISBN: 1599181517), "Web Business Success" (ISBN: 0974924504), and "The Web Savvy Writer" (ISBN: 0977830403). More than alternatives, these are superior ways to train for everyday life. Ezra, months earlier, had been kicked in the head by a horse and believed, due to the injuries, no woman would ever marry him, so he continued to do his business and "hide" on his ranch. I don't think you get as much good from the exercise with the band at waist height. Although the authors do miss some other viable opportunities for smart financial preparedness, their writing style and information was conveyed in a memorable form.. The number and variety of them is what gets to you after awhile - male, female, enlisted, officer, cadet; most currently serving, a few discharged; most gay and lesbian, one straight; but what you come away with is a profound respect for the courage it took to put your life in the service of your country despite the extraordinary burden of closing of
